Growing cornNgày đăng: 06/05/2017Lượt xem: 963Growing winter corn crops is an important factor in determining productivity. Along with intensive investment, the sooner the winter crop is grown, the higher the productivity.The objective of this technique is to grow more winter corn in two rice crop areas, to increase income for farmers. Seed maize is sown on a layer of hard mud (5-10 cm thick) on Concrete floor or hard floor (can be sown in small nylon pots). Corn sowing time is about 10 days before harvesting, so that soon after harvesting rice, corn can be planted. This will allow maize to be planted earlier, to be harvested earlier, to avoid cold weather at the end of the crop, and to provide better yield and efficiency.
How to do: Prepare 1.5-2 kg of corn seeds for 1,000 m2 of farmland. Soak seeds in water for 10-12 hours, then moisten until germination. Divide the mud on the floor(prepared in advance) into small pieces of 5 cmx 5 cm; poke a 1 cm hole in the middle of the soil and sow it in. Sprinkle and moisten the seeds to germinate and seedlings have enough water to grow well. After 7-10 days, when the seedlings have 3 leaves, it can be planted in the field.Picture 1: Winter corn and peanuts on two rice crops
Key benefits / impacts
- Helping plants to be less exposed in adverse climatic conditions, reducing the risk of damage to growth and productivity;
- Helping to grow winter crops successfully, generate more income for farmers, contributing to ensuring food security.
Difficult for farmers to apply
- Increase labor costs to make maize
- Lack of short-term corn varieties with good drought tolerance.Source: nomafsi.com.vn
